A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Civil-Earth Science-Environmental Engineering Department of Kyushu University and Civil and Env. Eng. Dept of the St.-Petersburg State University. This was initiated two years ago during Dr. Fomin's visit to Japan as a JSPS fellow (Summer 2006). The counterpart at Kyushu University is Prof. Kyuro Sasaki visited our department twice this year. Two visiting researchers (one PDF and one graduate student) are currently in the department conducting research on enhanced oil recovery through microbial injection and CO2 sequestration.
